The Ranch New Build Home

The Ranch Build home has stood the test of time as one of our team’s favorite projects. Nestled in the heart of Steamboat Rock, Iowa, this new-construction ranch-style home was designed to be warm and welcoming–while still creating moments of awe. We absolutely love how this project came together, especially for our client who was dreaming of a freshly designed space to call his own.

When our client first came to us, he was looking for a home that would fit his bachelor lifestyle, while still feeling like a cozy, personal retreat. One of the first things he told us was,

“This is the ambiance I wish to create in the space, and I have complete faith in your expertise.” 

There is truly nothing better for a designer to hear than those words!

We pride ourselves on getting to know our clients—their needs, their preferences, and their personalities—so that every home we design feels like them. This home was no exception.

The Design

When designing The Ranch Build, we leaned into a modern farmhouse style with a masculine edge. The overall aesthetic flows seamlessly throughout the home, with dark, moody tones balanced by light, organic elements.

Our team was hands-on with every single detail—from paint colors and finishes to selecting the perfect light bulbs for each fixture. It’s this level of thoughtfulness that brings a space to life.

The Construction

We believe that even a new build can be rich in character and charm. That’s why we approach every phase of the home-building process with intention - from partnering with builders to the final installation.

The Home

We are thrilled with how The Ranch Build came to life - from the architectural moments to the beautiful decor and details of the home.

The Living Room

The open concept of the main level includes the living room, dining space, and kitchen. Anchored by the large fireplace, the living room has a bold design, while still bringing in natural light from the windows!

One of the challenges we faced was the fireplace in the living room. We faced an unexpected architectural issue between the fireplace and ceiling, but we saw it as more of an opportunity instead of an obstacle. By adding custom beams, we not only solved the issue but ended up creating one of our favorite features in the entire home. 

Even with new construction homes, surprises can happen, but we love coming up with custom solutions that align with the overall design vision. This home is a perfect example of working with the existing plans but adding even more character and dimension to the space.

The Kitchen

With a large island and ample cabinet storage, the kitchen is perfect for entertaining. The large pendant light fixtures create an eye-catching moment in the space.

The Primary Suite

The primary suite exudes masculinity and warmth, while staying true to the overall design of the home.

The Guest Suites

We continued the design style throughout the rest of the home, including the guest suites that will allow for the homeowner to invite guests to stay.

Walking our client through The Ranch Build for the first time was a true joy for our team! The moment he stepped inside, he was greeted by both the warmth and awe we had been working toward. We love seeing our client’s reactions to their new space.
